Download a Movie Player

A computer movie player will allow you to view downloaded movies or DVDs on any PC that has a DVD drive, including desktop as well as laptop PCs. The DVD X program lets you watch DVDs manufactured for all regions around the world. It also supports various movie-file formats, including DIVX, MPEG4 and QuickTime. You can use the program on any recent Windows operating system. Purchasing the DVD X player costs about $70, but you can download a trial version for free.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to the DVD X player website. (Follow the link in Resources.) You will be able to read about the software's features and payment requirements. Product news and recommendations are also included.

    • 2

Click on the "Try It Free" button near the top of the page. The next page displayed will show you information including the DVD X player's system requirements, file size and version number.

    • 3

Click on one of the file-download links. You can choose from the standard player or the professional version. The standard DVD X player has fewer features: It only offers 15 minutes of recording time, does not stretch to 16:9 and does not support certain auto channels. To view the complete list, click the "Version Comparison" link on the left-hand side of the screen.

Choose "Save" when the download box pops up. This window is different in each browser. However, you will always have "Save" and "Run" options. Choosing "Save" will require you to pick a file folder to send the file to. When you choose "Run," the program will automatically be downloaded to your "Temporary download" folder and install itself.
