Locate your local IMAX theater. IMAX theaters are not as common as regular movie theaters. Use a phone book or IMAX's website to locate the theater closest to you. At IMAX's website, simply type your zip code into the search window and the website will bring up the nearest location.
Choose a movie. IMAX theaters don't show as many movies as regular theaters. But some Hollywood filmmakers have started to include IMAX footage in regular-format movies in order to be able to show the movies at IMAX theaters. IMAX-specific movies such as "IMAX Under the Sea 3D" are more typical of the films shown at an IMAX theater. Call the local IMAX theater or use the IMAX website to determine which movie you would like to see.
Go to the theater and purchase tickets for the movie or use the IMAX website and purchase tickets on the Web. If you are using IMAX's website, select which movie you would like to see, choose how many tickets you need, and enter the required information to purchase the tickets. Tickets purchased online can be picked up at the nearest IMAX theater.
