Determine the cords you'll need. To do this, look at both your PC (it can be a laptop or a tower) and your television set. Newer TVs will likely have HDMI, s-video, or both. Older TVs may only have s-video capabilities. Most laptops have s-video or HDMI capabilities. If you don't have one of these, they can be purchased from most electronics stores. The yellow RCA input will not work for video unless your laptop or video card already has this type of port. Otherwise, it will result in a black-and-white picture. Audio will be handled in Step 4.
Set the TV to pick up the cord's signal. Your TV should have settings for each input port. Determine the setting for the port and set the TV. Consult the TV's manual if you're having trouble changing the video settings.
Connect the appropriate cords. Have an s-video or HDMI cable going from the port on the PC into the port on the television. Since most computer video adapters are plug-and-play, the screen resolution should change automatically within a few moments to match that of the TV. If this doesn't happen and the TV picture is cut off or squished-looking, you may need to manually change the computer's resolution. If a picture doesn't show at all, then you may need to set your video software to a dual monitor.
Set up the audio by purchasing an adapter that plugs into your computer's standard 3.5 mm audio port, then convert this into the white and red RCA inputs. Another cord, going from the adapter to the television, will allow the sound to play directly through the TV, or through whatever sound system is already installed with the TV. Make sure the volume on the laptop or tower is set to maximum. Control the volume using the TV's usual volume controls.
Start a Netflix Instaview movie as you normally would, and wait for it to load. Maximize the picture to full screen, and sit back and enjoy!
