Open the compressor software that is on your computer. On your MAC computer, Compressor is the software you can use to make movie files smaller.
Open your movie file in the Compressor software. Drag the file into the "new file" box on the upper-left corner.
Place a setting on your movie file by opening a video setting from the box that is located on the lower left side. Choose a video setting, such as "H.264"; this will decrease your movie file while maintaining its quality. Drag the setting to the new file box, where your movie file is located.
Rename your movie file. Click "submit" on the new file box. Click "submit" again, when the pop-up window opens. On the right side there is a box that reads "Tasks," click the arrow next to your movie file. Once you click on the arrow, you will be able to see your movie file compressing. When the compressing is complete, the box will read "Successful."
Open up the magnifying glass next to the word "Successful." The "Finder" window will open, with your movie file as a "Quicktime Movie." Your movie file should be considerably smaller.
Open Windows Media Encoder and click "New Session." Windows Media Encoder is a computer program that can decrease the size of your movie files.
Click "Convert a File" and then follow the "New Session Wizard." The "New Session Wizard" will ask you to enter information for the following: File Selection, Content Distribution and Encoding Options. When you are choosing your encoding options, you can select the desired quality of your movie file.
Review your settings, then click "Finish."
Click "Start Encoding" on the taskbar. This will begin the encoding process and start decreasing the size of your movie file.
Play back your movie to check for video and audio quality.
