How to Count Attendance to Movie Theaters
Counting the attendance to movie theaters is important for several reason. Not only does it reflect the success of current movies, but it also determines the success of the particular theater. A lower count can indicate a move is not being well received by the public or that a theater is not popular. If theater management notices a drop in attendance, it can take steps to improve attendance, such as advertising, offering coupons or changing the price.

1
Count the tickets sold. Keep a count, either by a hand tally or through a computer system, of the number of tickets purchased by patrons.
-
2
Count ticket stubs. Detach a portion of each ticket when customers enter the theater and count the stubs later to figure out how many people attended each showing.

3
Count heads. Stand at the door to a theater and count the number of people that walk in. This can also be done during the movie by walking up and down the isles and counting the number of people in the seats.
