What kind of monkeys chase Jane in Tarzan?

In the original Tarzan story, "Tarzan of the Apes" by Edgar Rice Burroughs, the monkeys that chase Jane are not specifically identified. Burroughs uses the general term "apes" to refer to the primates that are both friendly and hostile to Tarzan and Jane.

However, it's important to note that the term "ape" is often used loosely in literature and popular culture. While it's possible that some of the monkeys chasing Jane could have been baboons, which are commonly found in Africa where the story is set, Burroughs doesn't specify their species.

In later adaptations of the Tarzan story, including the Disney movie, the monkeys that chase Jane are often depicted as baboons or macaques.
