SubUrbia is a 1996 American independent drama film directed by Richard Linklater and starring Giovanni Ribisi, Steve Zahn, and Amy Smart. The film follows the lives of a group of teenage friends living in a suburban town in Texas during the summer of 1979.
In the film, Sam (Giovanni Ribisi) is a 16-year-old punk rock fan who lives in a small town in Texas. He spends the summer with his dad, who has recently been diagnosed with cancer. Sam must come to terms with his dad's illness and his own changing life.
