How to Make Your Rifle Look Like Movie Guns

Making a successful movie depends largely upon your props. Using realistic props adds pizazz and a sense of truth to your movie -- whether it's a drama or fantasy. Making your rifle look like a movie gun is possible by following a few simple steps. Gather a group of friends and combine ideas to create a zany assemblage of firearms made for the movies.

Instructions

    • 1

Paint the gun to match the essence you wish to display. Brush a full layer of firearm finish to the stock, forestock and butt of the rifle. Select a black firearm finish to give the rifle a sense of stealth. Choose finishes with colors and shades of green and brown to create a military camouflage.

    • 2

Add hardware to your rifle. Clasp a scope onto the top of the barrel to give the firearm a feel of a sniper rifle. Change out a standard magazine with a longer, extended design -- such as a drum, rotary or zigzag style. Extended magazines boost the appeal of the rifle and offer the feeling that the weapon is used by military soldiers or gangsters.

    • 3

Create an appealing holster for your rifle. Paint or draw emblems onto the holster indicating to the audience, for example, that the rifle belongs to a federal agent or bounty hunter. Make letters and insignias bright enough -- blaze orange or yellow, for example -- for the camera to pick up all necessary logos.
