Locate productions occurring all over the globe. For productions that are significant to Hollywood, go to variety.com or hollywoodreporter.com and check out their production charts (see Resources below). They are updated weekly and will give you the latest information on what is shooting out of the country.
Contact the film office of the country you are interested in working in. Most countries require permits, which are cleared through national or regional film offices. You can simply search for the state sponsored office and find their contact information.
Read the script in one sitting, without interruptions. No matter how small the part, you must read and familiarize yourself with the whole script. This will not only give you a sense of the part, but of the tone and genre of the film as well.
Get in touch with the people in charge of casting the movie. These are called Casting Directors or Casting Agents. If you have an agent, manager or lawyer, it is best to have them call on your behalf. They will then pitch you for the role and the casting director will decide whether to take a look at your work. If you do not have an agent, send a headshot, resume and reel to the casting director and follow up with a phone call to make sure they received the materials. Share your passion with them on why you must get a shot at getting an audition for the role.
Learn the role to the best of your ability. Chances are you may have to speak with an accent or in a foreign language. Prepare and learn what is required of you for the role.
Play the scenes on a digital camera. With the Internet, you can place an audition on tape and beam it halfway around the world within minutes. Make sure to do multiple takes of each scene, then choose the best. If you can't decide between two takes, it's okay to send both.
Follow up on your audition. This is best done by your agent or representative as there is nothing worse than a needy actor. If they want you, they'll call. Just be sure to provide clear contact information with your submission.
