Where was Shawshank filmed?

Shawshank State Penitentiary, the primary setting of the classic film "Shawshank Redemption," is depicted as being located in Maine; however, the scenes involving the prison were predominantly filmed at the Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield, Ohio. Additional filming for both interior and exterior scenes took place at locations such as Mansfield City Hall, which doubled as the Shawshank library, and a farm called Malabar Farm State Park situated 30 miles east of the reformatory. These locations stood in for various parts of the fictional Maine-based Shawshank prison and its neighboring areas.
