Find a video capture device that will connect to your computer through a USB and will convert the Hi8 analog video to a digital file that you can use on your computer. The Dazzle device from Pinnacle Software is a commonly used device. There are many other devices also available if you head to your local computer or electronics store.
Once you get the video capture device, check its input jacks. If you’re not sure what type of jack your model uses, check the owner’s manual.
Get a cable that has the type of output jack from your camcorder and the input jack from your video capture device on each end. Connect the camcorder and the video capture device with the cable.
Connect the video capture device to your PC through the USB. Launch the software that comes with the video capture device. Once you prepare and adjust the settings to your preferences, press “Play” on the camcorder and hit “Record” on the software.
