How to Be a Movie Extra in Chicago

When considering the moviemaking industry, most people immediately think of Hollywood. What many do not know is that the city of Chicago has a vibrant and bustling film community. The third largest municipality in the United States is home to both production companies and television studios that have contributed to the city's $1.3 billion in industry revenue since 1989. Becoming a part of this exciting industry is not as hard as one would believe. Many of the films and television shows shot in Chicago need extras, or non-speaking actors, who populate a scene to contribute to its sense of reality. Obtaining work as an extra can be accomplished if you know where to find it.
