How to Make a DIY Microphone Boom Pole
Getting the best audio for a film requires placing the microphone as close to the subject as possible. Unfortunately, film shoots don't allow the mic to be visible. Hiding a wireless lavaliere behind a label or shirt can cause unwanted interference when the subject moves. The solution is a boom pole with a threaded end that allows for the attachment of a microphone clip. You can make your own boom pole for a fraction of what professional models cost.
- Telescoping painter's pole with plastic threaded end
- 2 hex nuts, 3/8 inch
- 3/8 by 2 inch hanger bolt
- 5/8 inch 27 male thread to 3/8 inch 16 female thread adapter
