Adjust the settings on your Nikon to have your camera save the images at the lowest possible size. Navigate to the "Image Size" setting and using the up and down arrows to select "S" for the smallest size. Push the "Menu" button to confirm your setting. This will allow you to save more images to your camera.
Place the object in its starting position. Using a tripod, ensure that the object is in the frame before fully pressing the shutter release button on the top of your Nikon to take your first photograph.
Move the object slightly in the direction in which you want it to travel and take another picture, without moving the camera or the tripod.
Repeat the process in Step 3 of moving the object the same distance for each photograph until it reaches the ending position. Feel free to be creative and manipulate the object in different ways. Just make sure that each movement is done over several frames.
Download the photos to your computer. Connect your camera to your computer using the USB cable and software provided with your Nikon camera.
Import the images into iPhoto or a similar image organization software and save them into an album. They should appear in the order in which you have taken them.
Find your photos in iMovie or another video manipulation software. In iMovie, click on the "Media" button above the timeline on the right and select your stop motion album. You should now see your photos appear in order.
Select all of your pictures in the album by clicking the first image, holding down the "Shift" key and clicking the final image. Once you have selected all of your images, click "Show Photo Settings" and type in "0:03" as the duration in the new window. Confirm the settings by clicking "Apply."
Click the "Play" button to view your completed stop motion animation.
