How many scenes should a screenplay have?

A screenplay will contain between 4 to 60 individual scenes each typically lasting an average of 3 minutes in film; a standard feature would then end up running approximately two hours on-screen. Short scenes are generally in the neighborhood of a single, simple event of action or dialogue. Complex or compound scenes may occupy the better part of a page (or more) and involve multiple events including camera setups
