Check the Sundance website (see Resources) for the pass lottery sign-up period. These dates usually fall in September and October.
Register for the lottery online. Select passes, packages, or advance individual packages. Pay the small fee (usually $5) to join the lottery.
Purchase as many lottery slots as people in your party, if possible. Lottery slots are random, and the more chances you have, the more likely you are to receive an early time slot.
Watch for your lottery slot email announcement. Go online at the beginning of that time slot to choose from the remaining available passes.
Buy tickets and take advantage of availability and early lottery spots; tickets sell out fast, and day-of sales are limited.
Visit the main box office in Park City or Salt Lake City at 8:00 a.m. each morning for the daily release of previously unavailable or sold-out tickets.
Plan your day around showings. Determine when to wait in line. Designate shifts so that everyone in your party has a chance to see the town or grab a coffee while waiting.
Arrive at least 2 to 3 hours ahead for popular showings and all premieres. Actors and crew usually attend premieres.
Wait in line outside the theater. Dress warmly; many lines are in tents or outside in the snowy Utah winter.
Select film shorts, foreign films, or films without major A-list actors or crews to ensure a ticket.
