Why does Mariah Carey get music awards for African-Americans when her mother was Irish American and father of Afro-Venezuelan Afro-American descent?

Mariah Carey has not been given music awards for African Americans. There are no music awards that are specifically for African Americans. Carey is a highly acclaimed artist who has won five Grammy Awards, 19 World Music Awards, and the Artist of the Decade Award at the Billboard Music Awards.
