Design

The original statuette was designed in 1948 by Los Angeles sculptor Louis McManus, who wanted to produce "an Emmy worthy of Hollywood, something modern, something classic, and something exciting". The Emmy statuette is a winged woman holding an atom. The woman represents creative art, and the atom symbolizes the sciences and technology.

Material and Dimensions:

The statuette is made of gold-plated bronze and black composite metal, and it stands about 15.5 inches (39 cm) tall and weighs 6 pounds (2.7 kg).

Base

The base of the statuette is made of black marble, and it features the words "Emmy Award" engraved on the front. The base also has a metal plate that can be engraved with the name of the recipient and the date of the award.
