How did barber become famous?

The most famous barber is probably Sweeney Todd, the fictional character from the penny dreadful The String of Pearls (1846–47) and subsequent stage and film adaptations. The character is a serial killer who murders his customers and bakes their remains into meat pies.

Some other famous barbers include:

* Ambrogio Figino (c. 1548–1608), an Italian painter who was also a skilled barber.

* Figaro, the famous barber from The Barber of Seville (1775) and The Marriage of Figaro (1784), two operas by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
