How to Learn Magic for Kids

Magic is a very popular form of children's entertainment. If performed competently, a children's magician can remain a subject of playground conversation for weeks after a show. Performing magic for children can also be a lucrative endeavour, as parents who approve of your performance are generally happy to recommend you to friends. However, performing magic for children is very different to performing magic for adults. Both your tricks and your presentational style needs to be very colorful and upbeat.

Establish an entertaining character. Popular children's magicians generally add important color to their performances by assuming imaginative characters for each show. These characters tend to be broad archetypes which young children can easily relate to, such as clowns, pirates, or fairies. Acquire props that suit your character. If you perform as a pirate, for example, you could get a plastic parrot. .

Invest in colorful tricks with powerful visual effects. Young children are not going to be impressed by card tricks. Popular effects for children's parties involve making objects disappear, making objects change into other objects, like changing a wand into a bunch of flowers, and seemingly impossible physical feats, such as pulling a long string of scarves from your mouth or levitating.

Learn balloon modeling. This popular staple of children's entertainment will be an invaluable tool in your arsenal once you start performing at parties. A lot of children and parents expect you to be able to be able to make balloon animals on request.

Use volunteers. Children get bored very quickly, even in the presence of capable magicians. By enlisting children to help with your tricks you will make the experience more memorable for all of them. Be sure to award special attention to the child for whom the party is being thrown.
