How to Make a Talisman for a Writer

A writer faces an empty page or computer screen and waits for the words to flow from fingertips. The writer may surround herself with objects to inspire and spur her brain to write. Talismans, used since pre-written history, offers magical aid to improve believers' lives, according to the Talisman Magick website. A writer's talisman can be anything that resonates with the mysterious creative center of her mind. Prop your talisman near your notepad, PC or laptop. As the words flow, the talisman will charge, gathering increased power to help you as you write.

Instructions

    • 1

Meditate on the writing outcome you want to ensure or promote. Select, for example, creativity or wealth from your written work. Assign a symbol to your outcome, like a hardbound book or a royalty check in a large amount.

Use paper and pencil, pen or colored markers for an appropriate talisman for your writing goals. Draw the symbol upon which you decided in your meditation. Try using different colored markers to draw the talismanic symbol, suggests David M. North in his article, "Make Your Own Talismans." Use the colors with which you feel a connection.

Charge your talisman. Place the talisman on your altar. Recite a poem of power. Leave the writer's talisman on the altar for several hours, advises Richard Webster in his article, "Amulets, Talismans and Charms."
