What happens to ponyboys shoolwork?

Ponyboy's schoolwork suffers as a result of the events in the novel. He is constantly distracted by the ongoing conflict between the Socs and the Greasers, and he finds it difficult to focus on his studies. Additionally, Ponyboy's home life is unstable, and he often has to deal with his abusive father and alcoholic mother.
