Is the character Dexter of Dexter- good or evil?

The character Dexter Morgan of the television series "Dexter" is a complex and multifaceted character whose morality is often ambiguous and difficult to pin down. On the one hand, he is a serial killer who murders other criminals and uses his job as a blood spatter analyst for the Miami Metro Police Department to facilitate his dark desires and satisfy his urge to kill. These actions are clearly evil and morally reprehensible, as he takes the law into his own hands and becomes a vigilante who decides who lives and who dies.

However, Dexter also has a strong moral code that he follows, which he refers to as his "Dark Passenger." This code only allows him to kill those who he believes are truly deserving of death, such as rapists, murderers, and other violent criminals who have escaped the justice system. In his mind, he is doing the world a service by ridding it of these individuals who he believes would otherwise continue to harm others.

Furthermore, Dexter demonstrates a capacity for empathy and compassion that is unusual for a serial killer. He has a close relationship with his sister Debra and often shows concern and care for his family and friends. He also displays remorse and guilt over his actions, which suggests that he is not entirely devoid of a moral conscience.

Ultimately, the question of whether Dexter is good or evil is a complex one that can be debated and interpreted in different ways. There are compelling arguments to be made on both sides, and it is up to each individual viewer to decide where they stand on this issue.
