How was the curse lifted?

In "The Sleeping Beauty," the curse is lifted by the kiss of a handsome prince. When Prince Phillip kisses Princess Aurora while she is in her sleep, the spell that has been cast upon her is broken, and she awakens. The curse that was placed on Aurora by the evil fairy Maleficent is lifted, freeing her from her eternal slumber.
