How did Skillet form?

The band Skillet was originally formed way back in 1996 while John Cooper and Ken Steorts where at church youth group in Memphis, Texas along with some other members as well. Then a couple years the later the band would move to Kenosha, Wisconsin and in there they added Korey Cooper (John's wife) and Lori Peters for the line up the they had. Later in August 1996 is when they first began to record at the independent Ardent Records in Memphis before the moving. Later then band would sign on 8 April 1996 which is was founded by Ardent's founder John Fry.
