How is flaming similar to heckling?

Flaming and heckling are both forms of verbal aggression, but they occur in different contexts.

Flaming is typically done online, where people can use anonymity to say things they would not say in person. Flaming can take the form of insults, personal attacks, or inflammatory statements that are intended to provoke a negative reaction.

Heckling, on the other hand, is typically done in person, and it involves interrupting or distracting someone who is speaking or performing. Hecklers often use humor or sarcasm to make their point, and they may also try to get the person they are heckling to lose their composure.

Both flaming and heckling can be disruptive and harmful, but they can also serve a purpose. Flaming can sometimes bring attention to important issues, and heckling can sometimes be used to hold public figures accountable. However, both should be used in moderation, as they can quickly become counterproductive.
