* Harry's natural talent is recognized: Professor McGonagall, the Head of Gryffindor House, sees Harry's incredible flying skills when he saves Ron from a rogue Bludger. She immediately recognizes his potential and puts him forward for the Gryffindor team.
* Malfoy's attempt to sabotage: Draco, jealous of Harry's talent and the attention he receives, tries to undermine Harry by making up a story about how Harry bribed his way onto the team. He also tries to influence the team's captain, Oliver Wood, to keep Harry off the team.
* Harry's selection: Despite Malfoy's attempts, Harry is ultimately selected for the Gryffindor team due to his exceptional flying ability.
So, instead of helping Harry get on the team, Malfoy actually tries to hinder his chances. This only strengthens Harry's resolve and reinforces the rivalry between the two boys.
