Qui-Gon is a Jedi Master who discovers Anakin on Tatooine and believes him to be the "Chosen One" prophesied to bring balance to the Force. He takes Anakin as his Padawan learner, despite the Jedi Council's reservations about his age and the presence of the dark side within him.
