FireRed is a remake of the original Red and Blue versions, which were released in Generation 1. It only features Pokémon from Generation 1 (Bulbasaur to Mewtwo).
Generation 2 Pokémon were introduced in the Gold and Silver games, and later in the remakes HeartGold and SoulSilver.
