How to Do Transit by Theory 11

Theory 11 is an organization of magicians that invents and sells magic tricks. The name comes from an old magic cliche that there are only ten magic tricks and thousands of variations on these ten. The name is supposed to suggest an extension to traditional magic that has new tricks. The transit illusion was invented by magician Calen Morelli, and it is intended to be a street magician trick. In the transit illusion, a rubber band appears to jump from finger to finger every time the magician shakes his hand.

Instructions

    • 1

Prepare four of the rubber bands before you do the trick. Wind three of the rubber bands around the middle, ring and little fingers. Cut the ends off the band-aids -- leaving only the pads -- and put three of the band-aid pieces over the three rubber bands so the rubber bands do not show as long as you do not turn your hand around. Put the other rubber band around the tip of your belt, which is under your T-shirt, which is worn out with an open shirt.

    • 2

Wind the last rubber band around the index finger. Shake the left hand back and forth while removing the rubber band from the index finger, with your left thumb, and releasing it at one end of the shake so it flies away. Remove the band-aid piece from the middle finger and discard it in a similar way. These moves require a lot of practice.

    • 3

Continue in this fashion until all of the rubber bands and all of the band-aid pieces have been removed and discarded. While the rubber band is being removed from the little finger, slip your right hand under the T-shirt and transfer the rubber band to the right hand thumb. You need to keep your right thumb -- with the rubber band on it -- folded in while covering the left hand and slowly sliding over the fingers of the left hand -- until the very end when you turn the thumb up to reveal the rubber band.
