How do you get good Pokemon at the beginning of HeartGold and SoulSilver?

Here's a guide to getting good Pokemon at the beginning of HeartGold and SoulSilver:

Early Game Powerhouses:

* Chikorita (Starter): While it might not seem exciting initially, Chikorita evolves into Bayleef and then Meganium, a powerful Grass-type with strong Special Attack and bulk. Its moveset can be tailored towards physical or special attack strategies.

* Cyndaquil (Starter): A solid Fire-type starter, Cyndaquil evolves into Quilava and then Typhlosion, known for its high Special Attack and devastating Fire moves.

* Totodile (Starter): This Water-type starter evolves into Croconaw and then Feraligatr, a powerful physical attacker with decent defense. It can learn powerful Water and Dark moves.

Catching Early Game Gems:

* Route 30 (near Cherrygrove City):

* Sentret: While weak, Sentret can quickly evolve into Furret, a fast and agile Normal-type Pokemon with good Attack and Speed stats.

* Mankey: This Fighting-type Pokemon can evolve into Primeape, a powerful physical attacker with high Attack and Speed.

* Route 31 (near Violet City):

* Hoothoot: This Normal/Flying-type Pokemon can evolve into Noctowl, a special attacker with high Special Attack and Special Defense.

* Route 34 (near Azalea Town):

* Pidgey: Common but effective! Pidgey quickly evolves into Pidgeotto and then Pidgeot, a fast and agile Flying-type with strong Attack.

Important Tips:

* Level Up: The key to getting good Pokemon early is to level them up. The more battles you engage in, the faster they will grow.

* Train Strategically: Choose Pokemon that have types that are effective against the trainers and wild Pokemon you'll encounter. For example, early on, Fire-types are strong against Grass-types, while Water-types are strong against Fire-types.

* Utilize TM's: Early on, you can buy TMs (Technical Machines) that teach your Pokemon powerful moves. Keep an eye out for TMs that teach moves that are effective against common wild Pokemon or trainers you'll face.

* Consider the Future: Don't just focus on quick wins. Think about which Pokemon will be useful in the long run. Some Pokemon might have slow early game growth but evolve into powerful monsters later on.

Bonus Tip: If you're playing SoulSilver, you can catch a shiny Scyther in the grass near the beginning of the game! This is a rare and powerful Bug/Steel type that can be very useful.
