If your opponents activates a card effect that removes monster on the field from play does would it be counted as being destroyed?

No, a monster removed from play by a card effect is not considered to have been "destroyed".

Here's why:

* Different Effects: Removing from play and destroying are distinct card effects with different consequences.

* Destruction Effects: Destruction effects usually have specific consequences. For example, they might trigger specific effects on the destroyed monster or on other cards.

* Removal Effects: Removal effects typically remove a card from play, but don't trigger destruction effects. The removed monster might return to the field later.

Example:

Let's say your opponent activates "Torrential Tribute", which removes all monsters on the field from play. While your monster is removed from play, it's not considered "destroyed". Therefore, any card effects that trigger when a monster is "destroyed" would not activate.

Important Note: Some cards specifically mention "removing from play" or "sending to the graveyard". These cards are not considered to be destroying the monster.

In summary: Removing a monster from play is a different effect than destroying it, and does not trigger effects that activate on "destruction".
