Why does iTunes need a credit card to redeem cards?

iTunes does not require a credit card to redeem gift cards. You can redeem a gift card without providing any payment information. Here's how:

1. Open the App Store app on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or the iTunes app on your Mac or PC.

2. Tap or click the Redeem button.

3. Enter your gift card code and tap or click Redeem.

If you see a message asking for your credit card information, make sure you're not trying to redeem a gift card that was purchased for someone else's account. Gift cards can only be redeemed by the account for which they were purchased.
