Description:
Located in Western India, the Deccan Plateau Hot Spot is one of the largest volcanic features on the planet. The Hot Spot is responsible for the vast Deccan Plateau, a region of 500,000 sq Km. The eruption also created the "Western Ghat" mountain range, which runs along the western coast of India.
The Hotspot became extinct million of years ago but left a legacy of volcanic lava and rock formation that continue to shape the landscape and ecosystems of the region.
