What year was the Mexican hat dance created?

The Mexican Hat Dance is called the Jarabe Tapatío. It is considered Mexico’s national dance and is said to date back to the 1800s when it was created by a Mexican army officer to represent the courtship between a man and a woman. The dance is characterised by the tapping of the man's heel and toe against his partner’s skirt.
