Why did salsa dance begin?
The origins of salsa dance date back to the early 20th century, when the music genre known as "son cubano" was popular in Cuba. This music merged with other Afro-Cuban rhythms, leading to the development of salsa music. As the music became more popular, people began dancing to it, creating the salsa dance style we know today. Salsa dance gained international recognition and popularity in the late 1960s and 1970s, and has since become a beloved dance form enjoyed worldwide.
