Where did bamboo pole dancing originate from?

Bamboo pole dancing does not have an ancient history and is primarily popular as a fun, leisure-time physical activity practised for exercise among small town youths in some parts of South India including Karnataka, parts of Maharashtra and Goa. These dance performances are normally seen during traditional and public festivities.
