Early life
Mendoza was born in Laredo, Texas, the son of a Mexican immigrant father and an American mother. He was the first in his family to attend college. He graduated from Southern Methodist University with a degree in business administration.
Business career
After college, Mendoza worked as a management consultant for McKinsey & Company. In 1999, he co-founded BroadbandSports.com, a sports media company that was later acquired by CBS Sports. In 2003, he co-founded the venture capital firm Mendoza Ventures, which has invested in over 100 companies.
In addition to his work as a venture capitalist, Mendoza is also an active member of the technology community. He is a member of the board of directors of several companies, including Google and Facebook. He is also a founding member of the Stanford Latino Entrepreneurship Initiative and the Latino Technology Alliance.
Personal life
Mendoza is married to the former Michelle Obama, and they have two daughters. He is a supporter of the Democratic Party, and he has donated to various Democratic candidates and organizations.
Awards
Mendoza has received numerous awards for his contributions to the technology industry and the Latino community. He was named one of the "50 Most Powerful Hispanics in America" by Hispanic Business magazine and one of the "Top 10 Latino Innovators" by Hispanic Engineer & Information Technology magazine. He was also inducted into the Hispanic Hall of Fame in 2019.
