Why was the haka dance invented?

Haka is not invented, it evolved over many generations

The term haka encompasses a variety of ceremonial Māori war dances or challenges in Māori culture. It is a part of Māori performing arts that involves vigorous displays of a variety of facial expressions (pūkana), rhythmic body slapping, foot stamping, tongue protrusion (whetero), rhythmical shouting (haka), brandishing of traditional weapons such as taiaha or patu.
