Lumnay is a beautiful young woman from the village who belongs to a wealthy family. She has caught the attention of many suitors, but none have managed to win her heart. One day, a stranger named Awiyao arrives in the village. He is a skilled woodcarver and immediately captivates Lumnay with his charm and talent.
Despite the differences in their social status, Lumnay and Awiyao develop a deep connection and fall in love. Lumnay's family disapproves of the match and tries to keep them apart. However, their love proves stronger than any obstacles, and they decide to get married.
The story reaches its climax during the wedding celebration, which takes place in accordance with the traditional customs of the village. Lumnay and Awiyao perform a ceremonial dance, symbolizing their union. As they dance, Lumnay's veil catches fire from a nearby candle. The fire spreads, and the couple finds themselves engulfed in flames.
In a tragic twist, Lumnay perishes in the fire, leaving Awiyao heartbroken and devastated. The story concludes with Awiyao carrying Lumnay's body into the forest, where he carves a beautiful sculpture in her memory.
