Where did club dance music start?

Chicago, U.S.

Frankie Knuckles is considered the godfather of house music. He started experimenting with disco records at the Warehouse, a gay club in Chicago, in the late ’70s. Knuckles would loop sections of disco songs and add his own percussion tracks, creating a new sound that would eventually become known as house music.

The Warehouse became a popular destination for people who wanted to dance to this new sound. The music was repetitive and hypnotic, and it allowed people to lose themselves in the music and forget about their troubles for a while.

House music spread from Chicago to other cities in the U.S. and around the world, and it eventually became one of the most popular genres of dance music.
