When did the New Orleans jazz enter into NBA?

There is no NBA team named the New Orleans Jazz. However, there once was a professional basketball team called the New Orleans Jazz, which played in the NBA from 1974 until 2002. Now based in Salt Lake City, Utah, the team is known as the Utah Jazz.
