When did jazz get to England?

Jazz arrived in England around the late 1910s and early 1920s through various mediums such as traveling American musicians, African-American and Caribbean communities, cultural exchanges, recordings, and the growing popularity of dance culture. Initially introduced by visiting American dance bands or "Jazz bands," the genre took root and expanded over time, eventually influencing British musicians and leading to local innovations that contributed to later developments in British jazz in the mid-20th century.
