When did stereo become popular?
Stereo sound, also known as binaural sound or stereophonic sound, was invented in the 1930s by Alan Dower Blumlein, an English engineer who worked for EMI. However, it wasn't until the 1950s that stereo sound began to be widely used in music recordings. With the introduction of the first stereophonic recordings in the late 1940s, stereo became increasingly popular throughout the 1950s and by the 1960s had become the standard format for music recordings.
