What event caused some hopi people live with the Navajo?

In 1906, the US federal government forcibly relocated several hundred Hopi families from their ancestral lands in the Black Mesa area of Arizona to the Navajo Reservation. The Hopi resistance to the relocation culminated in the Indian Relocation Act of 1934, which led to the establishment of the Hopi partitioned lands within the Navajo Reservation.
