Where was rap born?

Rap music originated in the Bronx, New York City, in the United States during the late 1970s, and is considered to be a part of hip hop culture. It initially emerged from block parties where DJs played music on large sound systems and people would MC, or act as masters of ceremonies, between songs, eventually leading to the development of rapping as a musical form.
