Fashion design
Hopa is a fashion designer who creates traditional Indigenous clothing and accessories, such as shawls, dresses, jewelry, and jingle dresses. Her designs are inspired by her Dakota and Nakota heritage and incorporate traditional techniques and materials, such as beadwork, quillwork, and leatherwork. She founded her fashion label, Saige Adele, in 2018, and her work has been featured in publications such as Vogue and Elle.
Hopa uses her fashion platform to raise awareness about Indigenous issues, such as the high rates of violence against Indigenous women and girls. She also works with Indigenous youth and encourages them to embrace their culture and identity through fashion.
Indigenous Tongva Dancers
In 2022, Hopa became the co-director of the Indigenous Tongva Dancers, alongside Andrea Apodaca. The group is part of the Gabrielino-Tongva San Gabriel Band of Mission Indians, and Hopa said in an interview that she was honored to help carry on the Tongva people's traditions and culture.
