Where did hip-hops roots began?

Hip-hop culture originated in the Bronx, a borough of New York City, in the 1970s. It emerged from the African American and Latino communities and was initially associated with block parties and breakdancing. The term "hip-hop" itself was coined by Afrika Bambaataa, a DJ and influential figure in the early hip-hop scene.
