What is kakawate folkdance?

Kakawate is a courtship folk dance from the province of Samar, Philippines. In Visayas, young women are called Binibining Samar, while young men are called Binata. The performance is divided into three parts: the entrance of the Binibining Samar, the entrance of the Binata of Samar, and the courtship part where they dance together. The dance is accompanied by a song which describes the beauty and charm of Binibining Samar. The dance is usually performed during festivals or other special occasions, and is a popular choice for cultural performances and competitions.
