What is takiling dance?
Takiling is a traditional dance from the Tausug people of the southern Philippines. Performed by men, the dance imitates the movements of an invulnerable warrior using two clashing bamboo poles to produce a unique rhythmic, percussive accompaniment to the dancer's agile footwork. It is known for its quick, intricate steps, and energetic movements, often performed to the accompaniment of traditional music played on instruments like the kulintang and the gabbang.
